Let’s light up the band! As you can imagine this is a huge under taking. Many parents have spent the last week working on the uniforms, drums and flags. Many hands makes for light work. It is taking us approximately 30 minutes to install the lights on each uniform. It’s better to work in teams on the uniforms. We need a lot more helps if we are going to get this done by Saturday’s parade. We are in the band room every night this week from 6 – 8PM. Students are welcome to help we do offer volunteer service hours.
Also we can use the following items: gallon zip lock bags, fabreeze. Please consider donating these items to the band they do benefit all students.
Congratulations to our boys soccer team who have advanced to the regional finals. That game will be held at Gulf Coast on Wednesday, February 14 at 7PM. Concession help is needed as a result.
Congratulations to our girls basketball team who won the District championship on Friday night. As a result they start regional play on Thursday, February 15 at 7PM. Concession help is needed as a result.
Lacrosse for boys and girls starts this week. We need your help getting concession covered.

- Edison Festival of Lights parade. Student call time 3PM. Chaperon and equipment call time 2:45PM. All buses are leaving by 3:30PM.
OVER THE NEXT MONTH WE ARE GOING TO NEED A LOT OF HELP!!!! PLEASE CHECK YOUR SCHEDULES AND VOLUNTEER AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN. THE STUDENTS GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, March 7 – 9 – Concert MPA, GCHS is once again hosting this event. We offer full concessions out of the cafeteria. We are in need of people to work the grills & fryers as well as working the window. I have split each day into 2 shifts. Please check the schedule now and help out. If each person takes just 1 shift then it’s easy to distribute the work load. Click here to sign up.
Edison Festival of Light Parade:
This parade is Saturday, February 17. The kids are going to have a great time with this parade. Students will be in full uniform. Depending on temperatures auxiliary may wear all or part of their warm-ups, please be prepared for this. Student call time 3PM, chaperon and equipment parents call time 2:45PM. There will be concession available to the students at staging. Please plan accordingly.
We are planning another apparel order. In particular we will offer a t-shirt, long sleeved t-shirt and a backpack. Samples will be on hand at the Thursday’s marching band rehearsals. Final orders for this apparel will be taken on Thursday, February 15. Chaperon’s we are creating a special t-shirt that has a reflective logo along with the words Chaperon on the back. Be sure to stop into the band room to purchase on 2/15.
San Antonio Trip:
Thank you to all who have addressed their delinquent account. If you still have questions about your account please email Mr. Carney directly email@example.com. Chaperon’s please have all payments completed by February 1. If your students has received a new id since we collected in the fall please start sending in copies of those.
Keep sending in those shoes. We currently have 71 bags of shoes We need to keep the momentum and those shoes coming in. Our goal is 300 bags. If each student collects 25 pairs of shoes we exceed that goal. We will collect shoes until February 28th. Riverstone community is collecting at their club house and at a few band members houses. There will be someone in the band room every night this week from 6 – 8PM Feel free to bring your shoes by.

Fundraising meeting: A fundraising meeting has been scheduled for Monday, February, 19 at 6:30PM in the band room. If you are interested in helping with the bands fundraising events please come. Drop an email to me to let me know you are planning to attend. If you have specific ideas you wold like put on the meeting agenda please send that to me as well. This meeting will help map out what fundraisers are done next year.
