Dec 28th will be two shifts 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 9:30 pm.  There will be a total of 8 games played – so each student/parent team will be able to earn $25 per game into their band account.  We need four people for each shift.

Dec 29th will be two shifts 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and 3:00pm to 9:30 pm.  There will be a total of 8 games played – so each student/parent team will be able to earn $25 per game into their band account.  We need four people for each shift.

We truly need your help to make this event successful.

Volunteering Challenge are you in or out?

15 Dec

This holiday season please consider giving a few hours to your Band Family. We have the perfect opportunity coming this week.

We will need many hands to make this task happen. Which task you ask? Well that would be the FBU Championships. Here is what we need for the next 5 day…….

Sunday Dec 16th will be the registration and future’s mini camp day – we will open the concessions (home and away) from 8 am to 3 pm. We are looking for 10 people at each of these shifts – we could use a few more people for the second shift – please sign up on the website.

Monday Dec 17th – there will be two shifts 3 to 7 and 7 to 11 (earlier if the crowd starts to thin) there will be three games that day, it will be the 8th grade quarterfinals. Great job volunteers – we almost have this one staffed fully – shout out to those that have already signed up!!!!!!!

Tuesday Dec 18th – there will be two shifts 3 to 7 and 7 to 11 (again earlier if the crowd thins out). There will be three games that day as well one will be a consolation game and then two semi finals. We could certainly use a few more volunteers on this day for both shifts.

Wednesday Dec 19th – WOW – this is going to be the fun day!!!! This is the 9th grade All-American Game – there will be lots of excitement. We will be opening both the home and the away concession this night as well. We are looking for at least 12 for the home side and 6 for the way side.

Now – here is the other fun thing to be added – our band students will be playing in the stands that evening (the kids know who needs to be there) so we will need to have chaperons there to help Mr. Goff and Mr. McGuire keep things under control. So we will need at least 6 people for this one. To sign up for this task please email Lynette Young at

Thursday Dec 20th – wow we have almost finished this event……. there will be two shifts 3 to 7 and 7 to 11 (earlier if the crowd starts to thin) there will be three games that day, it will be the 6th and 7th grades National Championships We can certainly use more volunteers for both shifts.

PS there is another event scheduled for Dec 27th through the 29th – Shark Shoot out. We will email you about that later next week.

Please email if you have any questions.

I fully understand how inconvenient it is to stop during the holiday times to volunteer for a few hours – we have some many things to do at this time of year. But it is for the kids and this amazing program.

As a bystander you may not realize how fortunate our kids are to have this program – music education has been proven to help develop language and reasoning skills – it helps to teach our kids to multi-task, manage time and to have better organizational skills.

Believe it, (I know they don’t appear to do this at home).

I would like to challenge all of our parents – there are over 500 of you – to sign up to volunteer with your band family this holiday season.

Thank you for your volunteering time!

“Tis the Season for…… Football again”

11 Dec

Hi Everyone!

AND, ‘Tis the Season for giving…….giving of your time! Did you know……
Volunteering helps counteract the effects of stress, anger, and anxiety. The social contact aspect of helping and working with others can have a profound effect on your overall psychological well-being. Nothing relieves stress better than a meaningful connection to another person.
Expands your connections. The relationships you can create while volunteering are endless. …
Makes you feel good. …
Contributes to a longer life. …
Gives purpose. …
Combats stress. …
Gives a good example to your child. …
Teaches new skills for you and your student.
So, how can you even think of staying away?? Come volunteer with us!
Here’s the link:

Band Update 11/13/18

13 Nov

Hi Everyone!

Are you knee deep in Prism? The kids sure are! Can’t wait to see the performance!
Did you get tickets yet? If you haven’t, we will be selling them under the flagpole before and after practices today through Thursday. You will need to know WHICH SHOW you are going to (Friday or Saturday) not just whether it’s matinee or not. The tickets are specific by day and time. Theevening performances are $10 each. The daytime performance tickets are $7 each.

You know that a show this elaborate has lots of moving parts (people, instruments, props, baked goods, baskets). So we still need a bit of help to make sure all of those parts get to the right spots. Please, if you haven’t already, take some time to lend a hand. Here is the link to the sign up site. We still need bakers, helpers through the week, but especially helpers on Saturday night. Surely you ALL aren’t going to watch the show on Saturday night? Can’t you come to be behind the scenes so that those who have been behind the scenes all week can be out front to see the performance? Right now we only have 2 people signed up to help on Saturday night.

If you do sign up to be a baker, remember to wrap your goodies individually to sell for $1 per package.  Please bring your goodies before the show you signed up for, to the auditorium lobby. You might not have realized it if you already signed up, but there are sign-up spots for all three shows. We like to sell goodies at all the shows.

Also, don’t forget to look for the silent auction baskets created by the band sections. It’s NOT TOO EARLY to be thinking about holiday gift giving! If you win a few baskets, you could be half done with your shopping! WHO KNOWS?!?!

Don’t forget about the meeting Thursday night! If you’re asking “what meeting??”, listen up! Is your child considering going to the Washington DC/Philadelphia Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Parade trip next year? This meeting is where you’re going to get the info you need to decide! Come to the auditorium Thursday, November 15th, at 7p. If you know of incoming 9th grader band members, they are invited too. Both students and parents are invited to attend.

Last thought, as you enjoy the shows this weekend, consider sending your pictures to the band historians before they get too far back in your phone! Here’s their email address:

Hope to see you at the shows!
